Every year, from December to February, sea turtles return to lay their eggs on favoured New Caledonian beaches. Roche Percée beach near Bourail in the ideal spot to watch the turtles nesting and hatchlings emerging.

The Lagoon Aquarium, together with local authorities and environmental groups, organises all turtle watching activities, with each visit led by trained guides. Sea turtles are protected by law in New Caledonia and it is a special privilege to witness the laying and hatching of their eggs.

Important: you must book ahead to join a turtle watching group. Book your ticket at www.eticket.nc, at Maison de Deva or the Bourail Tourism Office.

Guided tours 

Groups are restricted to 45 people per observation session.
From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., 7 days a week (December & January)
From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., 7 days a week (February)
